Standing alone in her mother's empty apartment Afton Burns is startled by the ringing phone and is even more surprised when she finds her father on the other end of the line. He invites her to join him on the set of the movie he is directing in Kentucky. Still suffering from the loss of her mother Afton knows she needs to be near him and re-establish a relationship that was broken long ago.

Though the hills of Kentucky remind her of her native Scotland, that's where the resemblance ends. Surrounded by movie stars and their egos often feels as if she is in an alien world, one that obviously does not welcome her Christian values. It's also clear that someone doesn't want the film to be completed.

Accidents have delayed shooting and if her father doesn't get the help he needs to complete the film on time, he will lose everything he has to his rival.

Help comes in the surprising form of a slow-witted hermit. Afton is convinced that he, like everyone else on the set, is hiding something. Yet when the accidents take a deadly twist, she'll discover just how much she needs to trust him with her life and her heart.
