It might have been an omen, the way the dense fog crawled in over the island of Jersey just before Poncie and Henry arrived. And in the airport, for just a fleeting second, Poncie thought she caught a glimpse of someone she know - someone out of her unhappy past.
But they both needed a vacation and Henry had been looking forward to spending this week with an old friend of his. Surprisingly, the first few days were idyllic. The sun burnt the fog away and the three of them spent hours exploring all the delights of the island. And then, like the fog that suddenly closed in on them again, tragedy struck. Poncie found herself accused of murder as the spectre of her past rose to haunt them all.
